Safe Speed Monitor
SIL 3 / PLe
Description
The new speed monitor from Pepperl+Fuchs
fulfills all safety requirements up to SIL3 /PLe
and allows the implementation of safety
functions while keeping conventional drive
technology. An additional failsafe PLC, other
safety relays, or a second sensor are not requi-
red.
The system has a modular design. The sim-
plest version consists of a compact safety con-
trol, a speed monitor module, and a safe sine/
cosine rotary encoder. The functions "safe
stop" and "safe speed" for monitoring the drive
shaft(s) are available via two safe outputs. Pre-
vious knowledge of PLC programming is not
required because parameterization is intuitive.
Configurations stored on a memory card allow
the user to change programs or transfer data to
other hardware in the blink of an eye, for ex-
ample, when replacing defective components.
The speed monitor can even be linked to a hig-
her-level fieldbus such as PROFINET or PRO-
FIBUS-DP, etc., using gateways if required.
The monitor is equipped with four safe inputs
and can be upgraded to a maximum of 40
axes. The monitor for a second axis is already
integrated in the basic device.
