Why Sensors?
• The typical electromechanical switch has an
inadequate service life.
• Extremely fast production cycles require high switching
frequencies.
• Semiconductor sensors are more suitable than
mechanical contacts for applications with very low load
currents.
• The encapsulated housing design of proximity switches
makes them impervious to the negative effects of fluids,
vibrations, impacts, dust, dirt, and oil.
• The target to be detected is very light and fragile.
• The required target detection is too precise for
mechanical switches.
• The target must be detected through other objects
(e.g., plastic or glass sheets).
