AS-Interface
quick to mount due to its single section housing concept with direct
sensor connection that already has an integrated connection line for the
sensor.
The G11 module design is robust, round, and has the higher IP68/69K
degree of protection. It especially suitable for use in harsh ambient
conditions.
You can directly connect double sensors or four-wire sensors to the
modules with two signal inputs on an M12‑plug. Inside most G11 and
G12 modules, the inputs for pins 2 and 4 are bridged by two adjacent
slots. If you want to use just a single signal input, however, you must use
a three-strand connection cable.
The flat modules in the G12 series enable quick mounting without
tools. You can mount the flat module to the DIN mounting rail using the
stainless steel quick action lock. The inputs and outputs have M12‑quick
disconnects. The M12‑quick disconnects enable safe connection and
removal of the connector using a half turn. The LEDs on the connectors
of the respective port allow for quick diagnostics. An output overload is
displayed directly on the affected port. The stainless steel half shell and
encapsulated housing provide impact resistance and a high degree of
protection.‑
The G16 series is available in two housing designs (4 or 8 ports) and
is ideal for confined spaces (e.g., robotics, handling technology). The
flat cable is connected via an M12‑ plug and an AS‑Interface passive
splitter.
The modules offer communication monitoring as well as a function
display for bus, external auxiliary power, and inputs and outputs. An
output overload is displayed for the port on the affected plug connection.
This enables peripheral errors to be detected accurately at the affected
port.
Control cabinet modules
Our KE series control cabinet modules require an overall width of only
22.5
mm for four inputs and four outputs. They are connected using
removable, color-coded terminal blocks that guarantee a quick and
fault-free exchange. You can plug the terminals even when energized.
The permissible core cross-section is a maximum of 2.5 mm
2
.
The KE1 housing is suitable for installation in flat connector boxes since
it has a height of just 50 mm.
Analog modules
We offer analog input and output modules in the G11 housing design
with M12 plug-in connections. The modules can be used universally
for several signal sources and, in part, automatically detect the
connected sensor (I, U, PT100), meaning that no wiring programming
or parameterization is required. We also offer analog modules for the
control cabinet.
The analog values are galvanically isolated from the AS‑Interface. The
analog modules can be supplied externally or via the AS‑Interface
(
adjustable via switch).
Modules for hazardous areas
We offer a module in housing design G5 that
is suitable for hazardous area Zone 1. You can
connect four NAMUR sensors and two outputs
to this module. You must either position the
master and power supply outside of Zone 1
or mount it in a housing that is approved for
hazardous areas. The cabling in Zone 1 must meet increased safety
requirements (EEx e). The AS‑Interface is connected via the flat cable
(
in this case the seal VAZ-PG11-FKD is also required) or a round cable.
The module is encapsulated (EEx m). The field circuits are designed
with EEx ia IIC type of protection. The inputs are monitored for lead
breakages and short circuits (can be switched off for connecting
mechanical contacts).
Pneumatic modules
You can use our AS‑Interface pneumatic modules to control the air
pressure locally, e.g., to actuate valves or flaps pneumatically. Shorter
pneumatic lines result in energy savings and faster response times. In
the case of decentralized actuators, this solution is superior to valve
islands.
Display and control modules
You can use illuminated button modules for locally controlling and
displaying states. Traditionally, illuminated button modules are often
used with two illuminated buttons for the start and stop functions.
However, we also offer a system solution for the installation of up to six
illuminated buttons with a diameter of 22 mm.

Stack Lights
You can freely combine this modular series of signal lights, which are
available in five colors and with three signal horns. You can
connect up to four sensors to the AS‑Interface module.
The stack lights can also be connected without the
AS‑Interface module.

PCB Modules
Pepperl+Fuchs also offers PCB solutions (type
designation CB*) for integrating AS‑Interface into existing
devices. We offer standard PCBs with up to four inputs and
four outputs as well as special encapsulated solutions or
installation modules in a plastic shell. Customer-specific
solutions are also easy and quick to implement. You can
choose between pins, single conductors, or terminals as
standard connection technology.

Accessories
Pepperl+Fuchs offer all the accessories required for seamless
installation and commissioning of an AS‑Interface system.
AS‑Interface handheld programmer
The AS‑Interface system is very easy to operate. The AS‑Interface
handheld programmer VBP-HH1-V3.0-KIT is used
to assign addresses and for the initial commissioning
tests. You can connect the slaves directly via the
plug-in cap, a programming cable, or an M12
connection line. Single-hand operation of the
handheld programmer makes it extremely easy to
assign addresses to individual modules or even an
entire segment. You can also use the handheld
programmer to control the AS‑Interface outputs
directly for testing purposes. The handheld
programmer is powered by battery or the provided
power supply.
AS‑Interface flat cable
The profiled flat cable is used in most AS‑Interface
installations. The flat cable is available with rubber sheathing or in an
oil-resistant TPE design in yellow and black. If you need to implement
safety-related applications via AS‑Interface, you can also use our flat
cable marked with "+++SAFETY+++" in red lettering.
Converters
Converters are used to connect different AS‑Interface gateways to the
RS232 interface on a PC. You can then configure and parameterize
these gateways using the commissioning software AS-i Control Tools.
Mounting bases
Mounting bases for AS‑Interface modules in the G1 series make it
easy to lay the AS‑Interface flat cable. The mechanical coding prevents
incorrect mounting. Pepperl+Fuchs offers different mounting bases with
and without an addressing socket, for flat and round cables, and for
different housing sizes.
Adapters and passive splitters
Adapters and passive splitters are available to suit every application:
screw-in adapters in housings, outlets on round cables, adapters
for M12 sockets, freely configurable solutions, outlets from yellow/
black lines to 4-pin M12 plugs, splitters for a second flat cable spur, or
mounting clips for mounting flat cables.
Plugs and female cordsets
As your AS‑Interface service provider, Pepperl+Fuchs also offers all the
necessary plug components, manufactured in our own factories.
