Introduction
Reduction factor 1
Unlike standard inductive sensors, reduction factor 1 sensors have no
reduction in sensing distance when detecting nonferrous metal targets.
Traditional proximity sensors may incur sensing range reductions between
50 and 70% when detecting metals such as aluminum, brass or copper.
Reduction factor 1 sensors allow the user to detect various metals at the
same range as a standard ferrous target.
Reduction factor 1 sensors are inductive type sensors, equipped with a
special oscillator design enabling the reliable detection of metals at the
specified distance, independent of metal characteristics. At the center of
the design are two air-core coils, allowing the sensor electronics to adapt
to the metal characteristics and trigger the output consistently at the sensor
rated distance. This design also guarantees maximum operating distances
and material independent detection of all metals.
Benefits:
Same operating distance for all metals
Maximum operating distance from 2 mm to 75 mm
Electric magnetic field immunity
Weld-spark resistant models available
Complete portfolio of cylindrical and cubic housing designs
Weld-immune sensors
Sensors are used in some demanding environments—that means
strong magnetic fields, showers of sparks and hot, embedding weld
slag. Pepperl+Fuchs has worked with manufacturers around the world to
provide weld-immune sensors that can consistently perform in unyielding
environments. We’re proud to say that we’ve taken durability, resilience and
precision to a higher level in weld-cell automation. Designed to be robust
and reliable, our family of inductive weld-immune sensors can solve virtually
any weld-sensing application.
Pile Driver
Since its introduction in 1997, the Pile Driver product family has become
known as “The World’s Toughest Proximity Sensor.” Unlike traditional
designs that utilize a plastic sensing face, Pile Drivers feature a durable,
100% stainless steel sensing face and barrel. Models are available in 8, 12,
18, and 30 mm diameters, with DC and AC/DC supply configurations, and
in extended range and weld-immune versions.
Sensors with e1 certification
Commercial vehicles represent an important application area for sensor
technology. Sensors for diggers, cranes, agricultural machinery, refuse, or
fire trucks are some of the many applications for sensor technology. Some
applications, such as ships and fork lift trucks, may also require specially
adapted products.
For each application, all requirements must all be taken into consideration
before applying the components. In addition to the basic sensor function,
optimal mechanical integration into the overall system is also required,
as well as application-specific sealing of the devices and resistance to
temperature and environment influences. In some cases, special connectors
usually found in vehicles may be integrated into the sensors.
Furthermore, the pertinent standards for the vehicles must be taken into
consideration. This includes stringent EMC requirements, which are
required in vehicle or ship-building environments. Over recent years,
Pepperl+Fuchs has worked on many customer-specific developments
where it has demonstrated its ability to integrate these requirements
into sensors, both efficiently and cost effectively for high volumes. Many
reputable companies within this sector choose our products.
Due to their robustness, inductive proximity sensors in cylindrical housings
are most often specified for this market, but Pepperl+Fuchs also offers
inductive sensors for analog position measurement as well as inclination
sensors used in the mobile environment.
Pressure-resistant sensors
Pressure-resistant proximity sensors are suitable for use in hydraulic
cylinders. They are suitable for operating pressures up to 500 bar and peak
pressures up to 800 bar on the active area.
The pressure resistance is achieved by means of a ceramic front face that is
an integral part of the stainless steel housing. A groove is also incorporated
into the housing (O-ring).
