Certification and Testing Standards
General-Purpose Listing
Most Pepperl+Fuchs inductive and capacitive proximity sensors,
AC or DC outputs, carry the cULus approval for the United
States and Canadian markets.These sensors are designed
in accordance to the standards set forth by Underwriters
Laboratories.The Pepperl+Fuchs UL Listed sensors are rated up to 250
VAC/300 VDC; including a complete line of Class 2 power source approved
sensors rated 5-30 VDC.
General-Purpose Listing
Most Pepperl+Fuchs inductive and capacitive proximity sensors,
AC or DC outputs, carry the cCSAus approval for the United
States and Canadian markets.These sensors are designed in
accordance to the standards set forth by CSA International.The
Pepperl + Fuchs CSA Certified sensors are rated up to 250VAC/300 VDC;
including a complete line of Class 2 power source approved sensors rated
5-30 VDC.
Certificate for China Compulsory Product Certification
Some Pepperl+Fuchs rectangular inductive proximity sensors,
AC and DC outputs, have been certified in accordance with the
China Compulsory Product Certification requirements. These
sensors are the rectangular housing style with various specified
ratings. Please consult Pepperl+Fuchs for a list of approved products.

Inductive and Capacitive Sensors
Class I, Division 1, Groups A, B, C & D
Class II, Division 1, Groups E, F & G
Class III, Division 1
Class I, Zone 0, Groups IIC T6 (Ta = 60 °C)
Most Pepperl+Fuchs’ NAMUR sensors are FM approved for use in the
above listed hazardous locations when used with a Pepperl+Fuchs
intrinsic safety isolator according to the FM approval requirements.
Intrinsically safe for Class I, II, III, Division 1, Groups A, B, C, D, E, F, G, with
Entity Parameters Hazardous (Classified) Locations, Temperature Class T6
at an ambient of 60 ºC; must be installed in accordance with the National
Electrical Code, NFPA 70, Article 504 and control drawing 116-0165.
Intrinsically safe for Class I, Zone 0, Group IIC with Entity Parameters
Hazardous (Classified) Locations Temperature Class T6 at an ambient of
60ºC; must be installed in accordance with the National Electrical Code,
Article 505 and control drawing 116-0165.
Many Pepperl+Fuchs’ NAMUR sensors are also Nonincendive for use in
Class I Division 2 Groups A, B, C and D; Class II, Division 1, Groups E, F,
and G; Class III, Division 1; Class I, Zone 2, Groups IIC, IIB, IIA Hazardous
(Classified) Locations Temperature Class T5 at an ambient of 60 °C; when
installed in accordance with Pepperl+Fuchs’ instructions, control drawing
116- 0155 and the Division 2 wiring methods of the National Electrical
Code, NFPA 70, Article 501-4(b).
Class I, Division 2, Groups A, B, C & D
Many Pepperl+Fuchs inductive and capacitive proximity sensors, AC or
DC outputs, can be used in the above-listed hazardous locations without a
safety barrier or a Pepperl+Fuchs’ switching amplifier. Temperature Class
T5 at an ambient of 50 °C. These sensors are listed as Nonincendive and
must be installed in accordance with Pepperl+Fuchs’ instructions, control
drawing 116- 0155 and the Division 2 wiring methods of the National
Electrical Code, NFPA 70, Article 501-4(b).
Class II, Division 1, Groups E, F & G
Many Pepperl+Fuchs inductive and capacitive proximity sensors, AC or
DC outputs, can be used in the above-listed hazardous locations without a
safety barrier or Pepperl+Fuchs’ switching amplifier. These sensors must
be installed in accordance with Pepperl+Fuchs’ instructions and the Class
II wiring method of the National Electrical Code, NFPA 70, Article 502-4(a).
Class III, Division 1
Many Pepperl+Fuchs inductive and capacitive proximity sensors, AC or
DC outputs, can be used in the above-listed hazardous locations without a
safety barrier or Pepperl+Fuchs’ switching amplifier. These sensors must
be installed in accordance with Pepperl+Fuchs’ instructions and the Class
III wiring method of the National Electrical Code, NFPA 70, Article 503-
3(a), control drawing 116-0155.

Pepperl+Fuchs NAMUR Sensors are CSA Certified for use in the above-
listed hazardous locations when used with a Pepperl+Fuchs’ intrinsic
safety isolator. These isolators are CSA Certified for use only with
Pepperl+Fuchs’ NAMUR proximity sensors or simple apparatus.
ATEX
Pepperl+Fuchs NAMUR products have been tested
and certified according to the latest CE requirements
and meet the relevant directives according to EMC for
electromagnetic compatibility and ATEX for hazardous
locations.
