Noncontact Energy and Data Transfer
Wired connection of sensors on moving machine parts is a challenge in automation machinery. Because of their mechanical nature, conventional
solutions with drag chains or slip rings have the disadvantage of a considerable reduction in service life, causing regular maintenance and replacement
costs. The wireless inductive system (WIS) from Pepperl+Fuchs eliminates the disadvantages associated with these mechanical connection systems.
Greater freedom in plant design
The system consists of four components and enables noncontact power and simultaneous communication with sensors on moving machine parts.
Up to 1.5 W can be transferred with a maximum operating distance of 5 mm (NDP5-30GM-5M) and of 20 mm (NDP20-FP-V1). Inductive, capacitive,
photoelectric, or ultrasonic sensors can be powered across an air gap and their signal
states evaluated.
